4th Grade!

Monday was the first day of school for Kathryn and Emma.  It is a new year and a new school.  We decided to try a charter school this year.  Kat has wanted to go to a private school for a while because she is not happy in the public education system here.  A new charter school opened this summer, and so we decided to give it a go.  It is about a 15 min. drive each way, which is horrible if you are like me and have to do it three times a day (once in morning, once in afternoon and once for kindergarten).  However, a few families in our ward are also going, so we are able to carpool.  I still have to go 1-2 times a day, but that is better than 3!  The girls have to wear uniforms, but that was the only thing Kat was unsure about.  I decided if the only thing holding us back was what they had to wear then we really didn't have anything holding us back! :)

We are hoping that it will be a great year and a better situation for the girls.  So far, we are off to a great start.  Kat's class only has 13 kids in it!  Amazing!  She has a cute teacher (who Kat says never yells at them so she is really nice!)  One of Kat's friends from church is also at the school, but in 5th grade.  They get to eat lunch together and play at recess, so that makes them both happy!

Kat didn't want a bunch of pictures taken - I guess my baby is growing up!  But, we had to get at least one of her with all  of her gear!

I also had to get one on our walk up to the school!
And one last one of her giving Lucy one more hug before she lined up with her class!

Kat has had a good week so far at school.  She was really nervous over the weekend, just anticipating school starting.  I think now that it is going she is a lot better and excited to meet new friends!
