Lucy - 1 month check-up

Lucy had her one month check-up last week.  It was actually a '5  1/2 week' check up because we had some issues with insurance, but it's all good.  I accidentally scheduled her appointment at the exact same time as my 6 week check up with my doctor!  I was going to try to change apt. times and dates, but both were important to get to - especially Lucy's that was already rescheduled a week out.  Luckily, Mat was able to take the day off and take Lucy to her apt while I went to mine.

My apt. went well and I am pretty much back to 'normal' - whatever that really means!  My incision has healed, but is still sensitive and a little sore.  I have been able to take the girls swimming  a few times already and started working some muscles that haven't been worked in a while!

Lucy's apt also went well.  Mat was a great daddy and asked lots of questions and got lots of answers!  I think he kind of liked being a 'mister mom' for a day - if only for one day!

Lucy is growing like a weed!  Here are her stats:
10 lb 11 oz
(70% - she has gained almost 3 lbs already!)
22.25 in.
(85% - she has grown more that 2 in.!)
Head - 15.25 in.
(95%)

She has been such a good baby so far.  She loves to be held, but that is mostly from  having her daddy home from work for almost her first three weeks of life, and having two sisters that are home from school for the summer and always want to hold her!  Mommy likes to snuggle too!

Lately, she has become really fussy at night.  She screams for a few hours and acts like she is in pain.  Since I am nursing, I have tried to cut out any foods that may be making her uncomfortable, but so far we haven't seen any difference.  Last night, for example, was miserable.  She was wide awake and screaming from 8- 11pm.  We would finally get her to calm down (most of the time that involved us standing up and rocking her) and then she would remember she wasn't happy.  When we tried to go to sleep, we ended up having to rock her to sleep and even then she wasn't happy.  It made for a long night.  Up until now, she has slept pretty well at night.  She has been in our room, so when she would fuss a little for food I would get her and feed her and then she would go right back to sleep.   It made for easy nights.  However, this past week she has decided that doesn't work anymore and likes to scream at us.  Hopefully we can figure out what is making her so uncomfortable and fix it!

The other issue we have been dealing with is Lucy's skin.  She has broken out in a rash/eczema on her face.  Her doctor told us to put a hydro cortisone cream on her cheeks followed by a heavy lotion.  So far it has made it clear up a tiny bit and helped the sores to go away.  Now her cheeks are still red and inflamed, but more of really dry skin rather than the sores and bumps.

Some fun things: Lucy smiles!  She will smile at all of  us when we talk to her!  It is so fun!  If we are talking to her for a minute and walk away, she will look around for us.  So cute!  She is also starting to 'talk' by cooing and making noises!  It is so much fun and mostly makes me forget about all of the sleep I lose each night! :)

Here are a few pictures from the past week or so.

Lucy all ready to go to church!

Lucy really likes her bouncy chair.  We put her in it when she tries to fall asleep but we don't want her to!  See her poor cheeks?  Some days they look better than others.

We put her in her swing the other day for the first time (we don't have a lot of room for all of this baby stuff, so we haven't put it up until now).  She didn't like it much, and still doesn't really like it!

 Snuggling with momma!

Once and a while we have been giving Lucy a bottle to see if she will take it.  She takes it like a champ and the girls love feeding her!

We love Lucy so much and are finally in a rhythm and routine having her around.  She is a sweet baby and we love having a new baby in our home again!
